Frequently Asked Questions
Got questions? We've got answers! Browse through our FAQ section to find solutions to common inquiries. Whether you're looking for support, guidance, or just a quick clarification, we've got you covered.
  • Q
Do you offer a paid maintenance service policy in the future?
    A
Yes, we have a standard policy (including rate details) which can be provided upon contract agreement.
  • Q
Is there a separate cost for each parameter item stored per process?
    A
    - There may be development costs per equipment, but adding parameter items to already connected equipment does not incur extra costs.
    - However, this assumes all parameter data is linked to PLC or HMI/PC. If additional connections are required, extra costs may apply.
→ Example: If three temperatures are shown on an indicator but not linked to PLC, additional cost occurs.
  • Q
Can we get a rough estimate of the development time and cost?
    A
The cost can be provided after finalizing the scope of work and conducting an on-site survey of target equipment for data collection.
  • Q
    Are there any development limitations?
    A
There are expected to be no limitations for software development. However, for data collection, limitations may exist for outdated equipment.
    - UDMTEK can develop:
      · Web (Typescript React)
      · CS (C# for on-site POP)
      · Mobile Android (React Native) – phones, barcode scanner-integrated, tablets, wearables
      · Android wearable programs
      · Service programs (daemon-type)
      · Separate sensor collection modules
      · PLC, PC device collection modules
      · Embedded AI modules
      · AI vision recognition and machine learning
      · AI & rule-based NDT solutions
      · AI API server development
  • Q
Is it possible to store and search defect images from the process?
    A
If image capture is available, the image can be transferred to the server for comprehensive analysis. With location data, the defect spot can be mapped onto the layout of the design drawings.
  • Q
Is a data acquisition device needed for each process or each piece of equipment?
    A
If the DAS (Data Acquisition System) PC communicates with PLC/HMI or reads log files from equipment control PCs, then one unit per specific number of machines or area is needed. Depending on the network concept, the DAS can be installed in the server room rather than on-site.
  • Q
How is data input/output handled for barcode readers by process?
    A
Communication is performed using the communication port (LAN) and drivers provided by the barcode reader hardware supplier.
  • Q
Can the system between domestic headquarters and overseas factories be linked and verified?
    A
Yes, system linkage is supported, and we recommend one of the following two configurations:
      · Real-time Integration: Enables access to most data in real time; however, some queries may experience slight delays due to network latency.
      · Interval-based (Delayed) Integration: Key data is pre-aggregated and transmitted at scheduled intervals, allowing for faster access once the data reaches the central system.
    - This flexible architecture ensures seamless data sharing between sites while accommodating various network conditions and performance requirements.
  • Q
Can access to aggregated data be controlled based on user roles?
    A
Yes. The system includes role-based access control with user-multigroup-permission management for:
    - Site-level access
    - Menu access
    - Feature-specific access (e.g., only QA can release interlock, others read-only)
    - Data access (e.g., internal users get full QA data, customers get filtered data)
  • Q
How is customer vs. internal data managed? Is a dedicated ID used for audits?
    A
Yes. A dedicated customer account can be configured to restrict access to specific menus and datasets, ensuring that only approved information is displayed. This setup also allows different data views and permissions for internal users versus external auditors.
